To All Ambulatory Surgery Patients/Families Sutter Davis Hospital has just begun a year-long remodeling and expansion project to better accommodate the needs of our patients and visitors. One area that will undergo significant expansion is our Ambulatory Surgery Center. You are receiving this letter because you have a scheduled appointment, and we want to alert you to some changes regarding your visit. We are building a larger waiting room for family members and friends, and a physician-and-family conference room. We also will expand the Nurses station and add five recovery bays for patients following surgery. Our remodeling project will begin on Monday, July 2, 2007. To keep you safe while you are with us, starting July 2 we are relocating the Ambulatory Surgery Center Entrance and Family Waiting Area. We are also implementing a new family paging system to keep your loved ones informed during and after your surgery. These changes will remain in effect through early next year when the remodeling is completed. New Entrance When you arrive at the hospital for your scheduled appointment, please enter through Outpatient Registration, next to the Emergency Department, or through the hospital's Main Entrance. From those two locations, we will clearly post signs that direct you to Surgery Registration. Family Waiting Area The new Family Waiting Area is located on the Second Floor near the Medical/Surgical Unit. Upon your registration, we will escort your family members and friends to the new Waiting Area. Family Paging System Because the Family Waiting Area is separate from the Surgery Center, we will use a flashing disk paging system, like the restaurants do, to alert your relatives to return to the Surgery Center when they are needed. Your family will be provided a pager upon your arrival. We'll page your family if your doctor wishes to speak with them and to provide updates on your recovery or discharge. During your surgery and recovery, your waiting guests are welcome to go outside for a breath of fresh air, visit the hospital Cafeteria, or visit the retail area adjacent to the campus for food or beverages. When the disk flashes, we ask that they arrive at the Surgery Center as soon as possible. Alternately, a cell phone number can be provided for these updates. We will ask for your preference when you arrive for your appointment. We strive to provide very good care at all times, and hope you find this information helpful as you plan your visit to Sutter Davis Hospital. If you have any questions prior to your appointment, please call our Surgery Center at (530) 757-5117, and we will be happy to assist you.
