The Auxiliary is organized into several service groups. Each service group performs specific tasks at the hospital. Service groups include:

  • Information Desk: Volunteers staff the Information Desk in the hospital's main lobby during normal business hours. They receive deliveries for patients and help direct visitors to the appropriate destinations in the hospital.
  • Gift Shop: Volunteers staff the Gift Shop in the hospital's main lobby.
  • Patient Services: Patient Services is the largest group within the Auxiliary. Members in this group assemble and deliver gift packages to new parents in the Birthing Center, deliver flowers, mail, menus and other items to patients, and run a variety of errands.
  • Surgery Center: Surgery Center volunteers work primarily in the mornings. They assist families of surgical patients while they are waiting and perform a variety of duties to support the Surgery Center staff.
  • Emergency Department: Volunteers perform many duties to support Emergency Department staff as well as patients and their families, including: greeting walk-in patients and assisting them with the registration process, providing comfort items such as wheelchairs, ice packs, etc., stocking supplies in the treatment rooms, and running errands.
  • Blood Pressure Screening Clinic: Volunteers staff a free blood pressure screening clinic which is open to the public on a periodic basis.

The Auxiliary has three types of membership available:

  • Active members are the core of the Auxiliary organization. They make a commitment to to provide a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer service per month for at least one year.
  • Associate members are those members who are unable to make the volunteer time commitment, but still wish to be a part of the organization and participate in Auxiliary activities.
  • Student members attend one of the local colleges or universities. They serve at least 8 hours per month, but are typically unable to make the long-term commitment of one year.
